The number of worship believers hits new record in history since the operation of Qinghai-Tibet Railway, according to Jiang Yang, head of Tibet Autonomous Region Department of Culture.
328,000 person-times came to Potala Palace, Norbu Lingka and Jokhang Temple for worship in 2006, 62,000 person-times more than that of 2005. 73,000 person-times visited Norbu Lingka during this May Day holiday and 40,000 of them were for worship, taking up to over half of the total number.
Most farmers and herdsmen often cover a long way to Lhasa, the center of Buddhism to worship. The operation of Qinghai-Tibet Railway makes it possible with quite cheap price and efficient and safe transport.
