Till the end of 2005, the renovation on main body of Norbu Lingka has been finished.

Started in June 2006, the 63 renovation projects costs 44.466 million yuan, 72.7 per cent of the total 67.4 million yuan investment.

Norbu Lingka, meaning "the treasure garden" in the Tibetan language, was built in 1751 by the Seventh Dalai Lama. Covering an area of 360,000 square meters, the garden is the largest one in Tibet. All young Dalai Lamas in history resided in the palace to study Buddhism sutras.
