500 pieces of culture relics were unearthed in Sagya Monastery in recent days. Sagya Monastery, the ancestor monastery of Sagya group of Tibetan Buddhism, is divided into two monasteries of north and south. The north one was established in 1073 and the south one was built in 1268. Sagya Monastery used to be the place where Tibetan local regime located and numerous precious historical relics and books were collected there. From 2002, government has invested 86,600,000 yuan on maintaining Sagya Monastery.
Shaanxi Archaeological Research undertakes the two-year investigation in Sagya Monastery. After several months' disentombing, 500 pieces of culture relics were discovered in about 2,000 square meters.
