In this 13 days tour, you will not only see the the most famous Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Sera Monastery, Drepung Monastery, but also see some famous sight seeing such as: the gorgeous alpine lake of Basongtso in Nyingchi, eastern of Tibet. Nyingchi area was called Tibetan switzerland. Gyantse, Rongphu Monastery and the most splendid mountains in the world--Mt. Everest. All these touring sites which make you have a fabulous view about Tibet and never to forget.

Tour Itinerary:

Day01: Arrive in Lhasa.

Service Provided: Meeting at the Airport or the Rail Station. Overnight in Lhasa.

The guide will meet you at Gonggar Airport or Tibet Rail Station, and transfer you to Lhasa city. After arrive in Lhasa, rest and acclimatize.

 

Day02: Lhasa.

Service Provided: Breakfast, lunch, dinner ,visiting Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Street. Overnight in Lhasa.

---Potala Palace: The Potala Palace, which is now on the list of Chinese national key protected cultural relics, is the most valuable storehouse in Tibet. It is a huge treasure house for materials and articles of Tibetan history, religion, culture and arts. The Palace is widely known for the precious sculptures, murals, scripture, Buddha figures, murals, antiques, and religious jewelry treasured up, they are of great cultural and artistic value. In 1994, the Potala Palace was declared the United Nations World Cultural Heritage site.Perched upon the Marpo Ri Hill, 130 meters above the Lhasa valley, it is the greatest monumental structure in Tibet.

---Jokhang Temple: Constructed in the 7th century AD to house the statues of Buddha that princesses Bhrikuti from Nepal and Wen Cheng from Tang Dynasty China brought as gifts for their future husband, King Songtsan Gampo. The temple has been enlarged many times over the centuries and now also houses statues of King Songtsan Gambo and his two famous foreign brides. However, the original statue of Jowo Sakyamuni Buddha that Princess Wen Cheng brought from Chang’an over 1300 years ago is definitely it’s most sacred and famous possession, and is perhaps the most venerated religious artifact in all of Tibet. The temple, a splendid four-floor building facing west under a gilded rooftop, is located on Barkhor Square in the center of the old section of Lhasa.

--- Barkhor Street: The Barkhor is the oldest street in Lhasa as well as the center of old Lhasa and remains very traditional. It is a place where Tibetan culture, economy, religion and arts are assembled.

 

Day03: Lhasa--- Gongbo Gyamda--- Lake Basongtso---Nyingchi

Service Provided: Breakfast, lunch, dinner, visiting Lake Basongtso. Overnight in Bayi.

---Lake Basongtso: Located about 90 kilometers west of Gongbo'gyamda County, the Basum Lake is an alpine lake at the middle and upper reaches of the Ba River, which is the largest tributary of the NyanRiver. The lake surface is on average about 3,538 meters above sea level. The lake covers an area of 25.9 square kilometers. The deepest part is about 60 meters from the surface. The blue, limpid lake water and the verdant mountain around the lake combine into a charming scene that can be compared with those in Switzerland.

 

Day04: Nyingchi--- Pailung---Guxiang Lake--- Garlang Lake--- Bome.

Service Provided: Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Overnight in Bome.

--Lake Raogco:The lake is more than 3,800 meters above sea level, and is 26 kilometers long and one or five kilometers wide. On its bank grows ancient Salix mongolica. The parlung Zangbo River originates from here.

--Bomi:The Bomi Country lies in the neighboring area between Himalaya and Niangqing Tanggula of east Tibet.Bomi in Tibetan means grandfather , The rugged countryside is surrounded with peaks with a river valley in the heart.

 

Day05: Basu---Midui Glacier--- Lake Rawo-tso.

Service Provided: Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Overnight in Lake Rawo-tso.

---Lake Rawo-tso: The Rawo-tso, Ranwu Lake in Chinese is a perfect blending of the Swiss Alps snow peaks and glaciers and the streams in Jiuzaigou (a pretty town in central China). The Ranwu Lake, the largest in southeast of Tibet, is in the Village of Ran about 130 km from Pomi. The lake, 3,800 meters above the sea level, has a water area of 22 square kilometers. On the bus ride from the Pasho, Chamdo down the Sichuan-Tibet Highway 318, you will see a corner of the lake. This is the most dangerous highway in China.

 

Day06: Lake Rawo-tso --- The Namjagbarwa Peak--- The Yarlung Zangbo River--- Bayi.

Service Provided: Breakfast, lunch, dinner, visiting The Namjagbarwa Peak, The Yarlung Zangbo River. Overnight in Bayi.

---The Namjagbarwa Peak: In Tibetan, Namjagbarwa means a "long lance piercing into the sky." The sky-scraping Namjagbarwa Peak, with its majestic appearance, precipitous shape and unpredictable climate, has been an ambitious aim of mountain-climbing organizations from various countries, and was only conquered recently by a Sino-Japanese climbing team in 1992.

---The Yarlung Zangbo River: The Yarlung Zangbo River originates from the middle section of the northern slope of the Himalaya Mountain with an elevation of more than 6,000 meters. It turns south suddenly in Mainling County and cuts the Himalaya Mountain into two sections. Then the river runs through a narrow passage between the two 7,000 meter high peaks of Namjagbarwa and Jialabailei. Its flow averages 1,000 cubic meters per second year round. In one section less than 1,000 meters, the drop is more than 300 meters and its current velocity is more than 18 meters per second. Here is the Yarlung Zangbo Canyon, the first one in the world. Standing by it, you will feel the fascination of the nature, including the precipitous cliffs, hot springs, waterfalls, primeval forests, rare plants and animals.

 

Day07: Nyingchi--- Huge Cypress Forest--- Mila---Lhasa.

Service Provided: Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Overnight in Lhasa.

---Huge Cypress Forest: The Huge Cypress Nature Reserve in Baji Town, Nyingchi County, is a complete forest of huge cypress trees. Among these cypress trees. Among these cypress trees, one is 46 meters tall and is about 2,000-2,500 years old by inference and is respected as the sacred tree by the local people.

 

Day08: Lhasa.

Service Provided: Breakfast, lunch, dinner, visiting Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery . Overnight in Lhasa.

--- Drepung Monastery: Drepung Monastery lies in west of Lhasa under Mt. Gambo Utse, clustered round by the black mountain, its white grand buildings shining under the sunlight. Built in 1416, it is considered as one of the largest monasteries in the six principle monasteries of Gelu Sect in China. Drepung Monastery used to be the living palace of Dalai Lamas before the reconstruction of Potala palace (after the 5th Dalai Lamas was bestowed by Qing emperor Qianlong).

--- Sera Monastery: It is known as one of the three greatest monasteries of Tibet. As one of the three main monasteries of Lhasa, it is here that the monks "famous daily debates" take place.

 

Day09: Lhasa- Shigatse.

Service Provided: Breakfast, lunch, dinner. LhasaYamzhoog Yumco Lake –Qu Xu—China Nepal Highway---Shigatse. Overnight in Shigatse.

--- Yamzhoog Yumco Lake: Yamzhog Yumco covers an area of 678-square kilometers, at 4,441 meters above sea level. It is one of three holy lakes, the others being Namtso and Mampang Yumco. It is the largest inland lake at the northern foot of the Himalayas. Yamzhog means upper pastureland and "co" mans Lake in Tibetan. When overlooking the Yamzhog Yumco Lake, one might envision a gigantic sapphire within surrounding mountains.

---Tashihungpo monastery:As an important cultural relic protection site, the Tashihungpo Monasteryis located on the southern slope of the Nyimari Mountain northwest of the city of Xigaze.It's the largest monastery of the Gelug Sect in western Tibet.and the main stage where generations of the Panchen Lama carried out religious and political activities. It is one of the four main monasteries in Tibet with the other three in Lhasa .

 

Day10: Shigatse---Tingri.

Service Provided: Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Lhasa—Tingri. Overnight in Tingri.

 

Day11: Tingri--- Rongphu Monastery---Shigatse

Service Provided: Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Visiting the Rongphu Monastery. Overnight in Shigatse.

---Rongphu Monastery: Rongphu Monastery is 90 kilometers away from the Tingri County seat and is 5,800 meters above sea level, the highest of its kind in the world. Annually it holds three-day sorcerers activities on the 15th of the fourth month and the Ghost-Beating Festival on the 29th of the 11th month of the Tibetan calendar.

 

Day12: Gyantse---Palkhor Monastery---Gyangze Anti-British castle ruins--- Palha Manor---Lhasa. Service Provided: Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Overnight in Lhasa.

--- Gyantse: Gyantse lies in the south of Tibet Autonomous Region, east of the Xigaze prefecture and the upper part of Nianchu River, covering 3,771 kilometers with a population of 56 thousand. Gyantse means in Tibetan "peak of success".

--- Palkhor Monastery: Lying about 230 kilometers (143 miles) south of Lhasa and 100 kilometers (62 miles) east of Shigatse, Pelkhor Choede (Palkhor Monastery or Palcho Monastery) is a monastery having the characteristics of Han, Tibetan and Nepali architecture.

Pelkhor Choede enjoys a high status in Tibet Buddhism history because it houses three sects - Sakyapa, Kadampa and Gelugpa together. Those three sects get along well with each other though they once quarreled and fought. The Bodhi Dagoba, the Main Assembly Hall, murals and Zhacang (hall for the monks) in the monastery are the most renowned.

--- Gyangze Anti-British castle ruins: The most renowned of Gyangze, or as a "Hero City", the glory here, there were some epic resistance humiliated history. Gyangze County in the center at the top, with a castle tower, which is famous at home and abroad in the mountains of British sites "in the Fort Hill." It is a resounding alias, called "Hero City." Here still retains Gyangze people in 1904 to defend the homeland territory of the British fort. Nearly a century ago, Gyangze people here wrote to resist foreign aggression, defend the motherland's sovereignty and territorial heroic chapters.

--- Palha Manor: Palha located in the Banjorlhunbo Village of Jangra Town 4 kilometers southwest of Gyangze County. Palha was originally the chief of a tribe in Budan. Palha Manor is only the best-preserved noble manor in Tibet.There are 57 rooms,including prayer room.bedroom,guesthouse,etc.,and all of them are decorated with gold,jade articals and silvers,making it looks grand and magnificent.In addition,many precious foods,dishwares,import liquors & white vinegars,rare costumes exhibiting there take on a vivid picture of Palha's luxury.

 

Day13: Leave Lhasa.

Service Provided: Breakfast, transfer you to the airport or the railway station.

Pack your luggage and get ready for leaving. The guide will transfer you to the airport. Say goodbye to Tibet .
