In this 11 days tour, you will not only see the the most famous Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Sera Monastery, Drepung Monastery, Drigung Til Monasterybut also see some famous sight seeing such as: Yumbulagang, Trandruk Monastery, and Samye Monastery, the gorgeous alpine lake of Basongtso in Nyingchi, eastern of Tibet. Nyingchi area was called Tibetan switzerland. All these touring sites which make you have a fabulous view about Tibet and never to forget.

Tour Itinerary:

Day01: Arrive in Lhasa.

Service Provided: Meeting at the Airport or the Rail Station. Overnight in Lhasa.

The guide will meet you at Gonggar Airport or Tibet Rail Station, and transfer you to Lhasa city. After arrive in Lhasa, rest and acclimatize.

 

Day02: Lhasa.

Service Provided: Breakfast, lunch, dinner ,visiting Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Street. Overnight in Lhasa.

---Potala Palace: The Potala Palace, which is now on the list of Chinese national key protected cultural relics, is the most valuable storehouse in Tibet. It is a huge treasure house for materials and articles of Tibetan history, religion, culture and arts. The Palace is widely known for the precious sculptures, murals, scripture, Buddha figures, murals, antiques, and religious jewelry treasured up, they are of great cultural and artistic value. In 1994, the Potala Palace was declared the United Nations World Cultural Heritage site.Perched upon the Marpo Ri Hill, 130 meters above the Lhasa valley, it is the greatest monumental structure in Tibet.

---Jokhang Temple: Constructed in the 7th century AD to house the statues of Buddha that princesses Bhrikuti from Nepal and Wen Cheng from Tang Dynasty China brought as gifts for their future husband, King Songtsan Gampo. The temple has been enlarged many times over the centuries and now also houses statues of King Songtsan Gambo and his two famous foreign brides. However, the original statue of Jowo Sakyamuni Buddha that Princess Wen Cheng brought from Chang’an over 1300 years ago is definitely it’s most sacred and famous possession, and is perhaps the most venerated religious artifact in all of Tibet. The temple, a splendid four-floor building facing west under a gilded rooftop, is located on Barkhor Square in the center of the old section of Lhasa.

--- Barkhor Street: The Barkhor is the oldest street in Lhasa as well as the center of old Lhasa and remains very traditional. It is a place where Tibetan culture, economy, religion and arts are assembled.

 

Day03: Lhasa--- Gongbo Gyamda--- Lake Basongtso---Nyingchi

Service Provided: Breakfast, lunch, dinner, visiting Lake Basongtso. Overnight in Bayi.

---Lake Basongtso: Located about 90 kilometers west of Gongbo'gyamda County, the Basum Lake is an alpine lake at the middle and upper reaches of the Ba River, which is the largest tributary of the Nyang River. The lake surface is on average about 3,538 meters above sea level. The lake covers an area of 25.9 square kilometers. The deepest part is about 60 meters from the surface. The blue, limpid lake water and the verdant mountain around the lake combine into a charming scene that can be compared with those in Switzerland.

 

Day04: Bayi--- The Namjagbarwa Peak--- The Yarlung Zangbo River--- Bayi.

Service Provided: Breakfast, lunch, dinner, visiting The Namjagbarwa Peak, The Yarlung Zangbo River. Overnight in Bayi.

---The Namjagbarwa Peak: In Tibetan, Namjagbarwa means a "long lance piercing into the sky." The sky-scraping Namjagbarwa Peak, with its majestic appearance, precipitous shape and unpredictable climate, has been an ambitious aim of mountain-climbing organizations from various countries, and was only conquered recently by a Sino-Japanese climbing team in 1992.

---The Yarlung Zangbo River: The Yarlung Zangbo River originates from the middle section of the northern slope of the Himalaya Mountain with an elevation of more than 6,000 meters. It turns south suddenly in Mainling County and cuts the Himalaya Mountain into two sections. Then the river runs through a narrow passage between the two 7,000 meter high peaks of Namjagbarwa and Jialabailei. Its flow averages 1,000 cubic meters per second year round. In one section less than 1,000 meters, the drop is more than 300 meters and its current velocity is more than 18 meters per second. Here is the Yarlung Zangbo Canyon, the first one in the world. Standing by it, you will feel the fascination of the nature, including the precipitous cliffs, hot springs, waterfalls, primeval forests, rare plants and animals.

 

Day05: Nyingchi--- Huge Cypress Forest--- Mila---Lhasa.

Service Provided: Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Overnight in Lhasa.

---Huge Cypress Forest: The Huge Cypress Nature Reserve in Baji Town, Nyingchi County, is a complete forest of huge cypress trees. Among these cypress trees. Among these cypress trees, one is 46 meters tall and is about 2,000-2,500 years old by inference and is respected as the sacred tree by the local people.

 

Day06: Lhasa- Shigatse.

Service Provided: Breakfast, lunch, dinner. LhasaYamzhoog Yumco Lake –Qu Xu—China Nepal Highway---Shigatse--- Tashilhungpo Monastery. Overnight in Shigatse.

--- Yamzhoog Yumco Lake: Yamzhog Yumco covers an area of 678-square kilometers, at 4,441 meters above sea level. It is one of three holy lakes, the others being Namtso and Mampang Yumco. It is the largest inland lake at the northern foot of the Himalayas. Yamzhog means upper pastureland and "co" mans Lake in Tibetan. When overlooking the Yamzhog Yumco Lake, one might envision a gigantic sapphire within surrounding mountains.

---Tashilhungpo Monastery: Built in 1447, the Tashilhungpo (meaning auspicious Sumeru) Monastery is located on the southern slope of the Nyima Mountain to the west of Xigaze City in Southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region. It is one of the "Four Famous Monasteries" of the Gelug Sect of Tibetan Buddhism, the other three are Sera,Drepung, and Gandain in Lhasa.

 

Day07: Shigatse---Zetang---Yumbulagang---Trandruk Temple-- Zetang

Service Provided: Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Overnight in Zetang.

---Yumbulagang: Towering at the summit of Mt. Tashitseri, the east bank of Yarlung River, Yumbulhakang is the first palace as well as one of the earliest construction in Tibet, therefore you could have a bird's eye view of the whole beautiful Yarlung Valley.

---Trandruk Temple: Trandruk Temple is one of the earliest Buddhist Temples in Tibetan history. Built in 641 A.D, it is said that King Songtsan Gampo established the temple to suppress the ogress in order to prosper his kingdom, and later it became the winter palace of the King and Princess Wencheng in Tsedang. It contains the precious relics the Pear Tangkha, which, 2 meters in length, 1.2 meters in breadth, is made of 29026 pears and different precious stone by Naidong during the reign of Pamodrupa Kingdom.

 

Day08: Zetang--- Samye Monastery---Lhasa.

Service Provided: Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Overnight in Lhasa.

--- Samye Monastery: Samye Monastery is located in Danang County, the north bank of Yarlung Tsampo River, 38 km to Tsedang. This monastery was built in accordance of an aspiration of King Trisong Detsan and the construction was directed by the famous Indian Masters Padmasamabava and Shantarakshita.

 

Day09: Lhasa.

Service Provided: Breakfast, lunch, dinner, visiting Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery . Overnight in Lhasa.

--- Drepung Monastery: Drepung Monastery lies in west of Lhasa under Mt. Gambo Utse, clustered round by the black mountain, its white grand buildings shining under the sunlight. Built in 1416, it is considered as one of the largest monasteries in the six principle monasteries of Gelu Sect in China. Drepung Monastery used to be the living palace of Dalai Lamas before the reconstruction of Potala palace (after the 5th Dalai Lamas was bestowed by Qing emperor Qianlong).

--- Sera Monastery: It is known as one of the three greatest monasteries of Tibet. As one of the three main monasteries of Lhasa, it is here that the monks "famous daily debates" take place.

 

Day10: Lhasa.

Service Provided: Breakfast, lunch, dinner, visiting Drigung Til Monastery and The Dezong Hot Spring. Overnight in Lhasa.

--- Drigung Til Monastery: It is the head monastery of the Drigungpa school of the Kagyupa order. It was first establishedd in 1167. Right now there are 270 monks at Drigung Til.

--- The Dezong Hot Spring: The Dezong Hot Spring in the vicinity has an ample supply of hot spring water which is said to cure a wide range of diseases. It attracts numerous visitors who take a dip in the hot spring.

 

Day11: Leave Lhasa.

Service Provided: Breakfast, transfer you to the airport or the railway station.

Pack your luggage and get ready for leaving. The guide will transfer you to the airport. Say goodbye to Tibet .
